Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR)

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is an evidence-based psychotherapy approach that helps people process and heal

from distressing or overwhelming life experiences. EMDR integrates elements of cognitive-behavioral, psychodynamic, interpersonal,

experiential, and body-centered therapies.

Developed by Dr. Francine Shapiro in the late 1980s, EMDR has been extensively researched and shown to be effective for a wide range of

issues, including trauma, anxiety, intrusive memories, and other emotional difficulties. It works by helping the brain and nervous system

reprocess stored experiences so they no longer feel as intense or disruptive.

During our work together, we can discuss whether EMDR would be an appropriate therapeutic approach for your specific goals and needs.

Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT)

Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT) is a therapeutic approach that combines acupressure (gentle tapping on specific meridian points) with principles of cognitive and exposure-based therapies. This blend helps calm the nervous system, reduce emotional intensity, and support the processing of difficult thoughts or memories.

EFT has been used to address a wide range of concerns, including stress, anxiety, phobias, trauma symptoms, cravings, performance blocks, chronic pain, and emotional regulation. It can be especially helpful for individuals who benefit from mind-body approaches and those who appreciate having a practical tool they can use both in and between sessions.

Developed by Gary Craig in the 1990s, EFT draws from several therapeutic traditions, including behavioral and cognitive psychology, exposure therapy, holistic and client-centered approaches, and energy psychology.

Because EFT is easy to learn and use, many clients appreciate that it can be a helpful self-care tool outside of therapy sessions. When we

meet, we can explore whether EFT is the right fit for your goals and how it can support your healing process.
